We're all back, safe and sound. Anna's doing her last finals today and will leave LAX tonite at 10:30, arriving at Dulles before 6 am tomorrow. We splurged and got Warren tix so he could be here for Ric's prom this weekend, too. We did all we wanted: photos of our feet around the bricks we bought on the Walk around the World; silhouettes of the kids; the luau (in costume), Typhoon Lagoon -- Val picked his pearl, like the other kids had; our fave rides in the Magic Kingdom, and Studios; pix of our Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror adventures; the light parade and fireworks at the Kingdom, and the Japanese restaurant and rides at Epcot. I bought toe socks at Mitsukoshi, and Ric, Val, and Josie built their own light sabres at Star Tours. Probably the nicest family vacation we've ever had. I was able to download two pics from our Disney Photopass, showing us in the Magic Kingdom on Band Parade Day, and at Epcot the next day. We're standing around our Leave a Legacy at Epcot. The laser photos were made in 2000. The kids looked sooooo young! Anyway, I haven't yet bought the Photo CD which will let me upload other pix yet. So here goes for the two I've described:

Let me know if they show up. That is all. :D

The House of Mouse....

music: NOT Jonas Bros or HSM!

We're all together here in Orlando! The last time we were here was in 2000. Val was just over two years old. Josie's band will be performing at the Magic Kingdom parade on Thursday, but we came down a couple days early to have a mini family reunion. Staying at Saratoga Springs (old Disney Institute), and got Dining Plan/ Park Hopper Plus tix. So there shouldn't be too many unforeseen expenses. Anna got her work for classes done early -- this is her last week of classes before finals start on 6 May. Warren took the red-eye from Sacramento, and I drove with the three younger ones from Bedford. LOOOOOONG drive, y'all! We all made it, and had character breakfast this AM at the Grand Floridian. But everyone's all shagged out after a long squawk, so now they're all asleep! Well, Ric and Val are at the pool. The plan is to go to the Magic Kingdom for tonight and do Splash Mountain and pic in front of the Castle. We girls (Anna, Josie and me!) need to get something to wear to the luau tomorrow night, too. We even have 'Luau School Certificates of Completion' from way back when. We'd been to the parks about 16 times from 1992 to 2000, so we're old hands at it. Since we're gonna be on the West Coast (Modesto) after June, when Ric graduates from high school, this was the last chance to do something in this neck of the woods. He's attending Cal State/Stanislaus in the fall. Not really 'ready' for the rigours of a college environment far from home. Loyola Marymount in LA accepted him and even gave some scholarship money, but he's not disciplined enough yet, we don't believe. He can always transfer next year. He really wanted in at USC, but his high school grades weren't competitive enough, even with an older sister attending there who is on the Dean's List. He can meet with USC reps sometime in June for advice on how to fashion an appropriate class schedule this fall at Cal State for transfer purposes. So, we're here enjoying the Florida sunshine, and awaiting the midnight show for X-Men Origins which we'll see at the Downtown Disney AMC theater. That is all for now. :D

Five Things I Love About Dynonugget:

1. Her writing has grown in depth and complexity in such a short time.
2. She graciously gives of her time to this community.
3. She enjoys exploring other parts of the Harry Potter fandom than just this one....though
we all know she likes us bestest. :D
4. I enjoy the funny personality I've gotten to know outside the fandom.
5. She's supportive and caring.

Well, London was was Wiltshire, Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, the Odeon Cinema in Salisbury, which was originally built in 1475, as a butcher's halle, the Piccadilly Waterstones (where Anna was intereviewed "live" by the BBCNews Entertainment reporter Razia, and Val and Anna were interviewed by CNN, while we were waiting in the queue), and Josie's birthday cake, which had a Fruits Basket character as decoration. We saw the movie twice, picked up our copies of the book, with a fancy stamp on it, made some neat new friends, saw some incredibly creative costumes, got our Oyster cards, and made brunch for the friends whose house we borrowed. Met a nice Druid who invited us back for Winter Solstice at the Stones (and even Val said the tour was 'interesting' -- pretty good for a nine-year-old besotted with video games), a nice landlady whose guesthouse we enjoyed (and who liked my peach jelly), and a nice lady guide at the Cathedral who was in like Flynn with Josie and Val when she told them you could pick up a stone and see the water underneath the Cathedral. Didn't see Swindon and Avebury, but can do that another time: we've got Family Coachcards and Railcards for the year! Didn't even mind the was the same stuff we saw in Texas when we went for the family reunion in mid-June! This trip was all about learning to travel outside London using public transport, and we did that quite well. Next time, we'll tackle the roundabouts in a car....hopefully! Now, I'm off to read the book.

Off we go into the Wild Blue Yonder...

Well, I'm posting this at the Doubletree Hotel at Newark Airport. We picked up Miss Carol at 1 am and we're checked in online, and boarding passes will be printed when we go to the airport later today. She brought a super Superman clock as a present for the kids. Can't wait to take off and we'll be landing at around 9 AM at Heathrow on Thursday. Shiv, if you'll email me at (same user name as here), I'll reply with our London landline details and mobile details. We're going to see OOtP at the local theater near Herne Hill, and we've got our Hogwarts robes for the Piccadilly Waterstone's Midnight DH launch party. We're also going to Wiltshire for the weekend: Stonehenge, Avebury, the Steam Museum at Swindon, Old Sarum, and the Cathedral at Salisbury. I've got peach jelly for a housewarming gift for the B & B where we're staying. Think I'm all set! Cheers!
